Certified Medical Coding Specialist

Job Summary

Detail-oriented and passionate about precision, the full-time Certified Medical Coding Specialist will work remotely to review provider documentation, assign appropriate ICD-10 and CPT codes, and ensure compliance with coding standards while contributing to audits and training initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Review provider documentation to determine principal diagnoses and assign appropriate ICD-10 and CPT codes
• Extract information from clinical documentation and enter it into coding systems while adhering to productivity standards
• Participate in audits, troubleshoot coding issues, and assist with training for new software applications

Required qualifications

• Certification as a Certified Coding Associate (CCA), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Certified Professional Coder (CPC/CPC-A), Certified Outpatient Coder (COC/COC-A), or Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC/CIC-A)
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT coding principles
• Commitment to ongoing education in coding practices
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Experience with coding audits and compliance initiatives
