Certified Medical Coding Technician

Job Summary

To support coding functions in a remote environment, the full-time Certified Medical Coding Technician will review and analyze medical coding documentation, resolve billing issues, and provide education on coding practices while collaborating with departmental staff.

Key responsibilities

• Review and correct discrepancies in medical coding documentation and present findings to relevant partners
• Resolve pre-bill claim edits and complex billing issues related to coding through research and policy analysis
• Maintain extensive knowledge of coding guidelines and provide education on outpatient and inpatient coding practices

Required qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent
• Three years of experience coding professional or hospital services in an outpatient or clinic setting preferred
• Certified in professional or hospital coding (CPC, CPC-H) or other equivalent coding certification required
• Knowledge of denial management preferred
• Extensive knowledge of Epic billing systems
