Certified Outpatient Coder

Job Summary

To ensure accurate coding for outpatient visits, the remote Certified Outpatient Coder will assign ICD-10 diagnoses and CPT-4 procedure codes while maintaining coding quality and productivity standards in a full-time capacity.

Key responsibilities

• Identifies and assigns ICD-10 and CPT-4 codes for various outpatient encounters to support reimbursement and compliance
• Monitors daily coding workload to facilitate timely billing processes and adheres to established timeframes
• Maintains a coding accuracy rate of 90% and a productivity rate of at least 95% while complying with ethical coding standards

Required qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with formal ICD-10-CM and CPT training
• 6 months to 2 years of outpatient coding experience in a facility healthcare setting
• Certification as a Certified Outpatient Coder (COC) or equivalent coding certification
• Proficiency in using coding and EHR software, such as EPIC or 3M HDM
• Associate or bachelor's degree is preferred
