Job Summary
Working remotely in a full-time capacity, the Certified Outpatient Coder will interpret clinical documentation to assign appropriate ICD-CM and CPT codes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with coding guidelines while maintaining a coding accuracy rate of at least 95%.
Key responsibilities:
- Analyze medical records to determine appropriate coding for outpatient care, including ICD-CM and CPT codes
- Verify documentation to support assigned codes and assist in resolving incomplete or missing chart documentation
- Participate in continuous coding audits and maintain compliance with coding regulations set by relevant authorities
Required qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of ICD-CM and CPT coding systems, as well as third-party payer requirements
- Medical coding certification preferred, with training in medical terminology from an accredited program
- Three years of medical abstraction and outpatient coding experience preferred
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively
