Certified Outpatient Coder

Job Summary

To support outpatient care, the full-time Certified Outpatient Coder will interpret clinical documentation, assign appropriate ICD-CM and CPT codes, and ensure coding accuracy while working remotely.

Key responsibilities:

• Analyze medical records to assign accurate ICD-CM and CPT codes based on documentation
• Verify documentation completeness and assist in resolving missing chart issues to expedite coding and billing
• Participate in coding audits and maintain a coding accuracy rate of at least 95% to meet productivity standards

Required qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Medical coding certification preferred
• Knowledge of ICD-CM and CPT coding systems and third-party payer requirements
• Ability to work independently within established guidelines
• Three years of medical abstraction and outpatient coding experience preferred
