Job Summary
To support healthcare organizations, the PRN Certified Outpatient Coder will abstract and enter data into electronic medical records, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines while maintaining a coding accuracy rate of 95% or better in a fully remote capacity.
Key responsibilities:
- Assign appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes to various outpatient accounts according to established workflows
- Abstract and enter coded data for hospital statistical and reporting requirements
- Communicate with physicians and clinical staff to clarify clinical information and improve documentation quality
Required qualifications:
- Approved AHIMA or AAPC coding credential
- Minimum of 3 years of coding experience, preferably in Trauma Level 1 and Academic Teaching facilities
- Extensive coding experience in spinal procedures and general surgery
- Familiarity with Epic/3M systems
