Certified Outpatient Coder

Job Summary

To support efficient outpatient billing processes, the part-time Certified Outpatient Coder will interpret clinical documentation, assign appropriate ICD-CM and CPT codes, and ensure coding accuracy while working remotely.

Key responsibilities:

• Analyze medical records to assign correct ICD-CM and CPT codes based on official guidelines
• Verify documentation to substantiate codes and assist in resolving incomplete chart documentation
• Maintain a coding accuracy rate of at least 95% and participate in continuous coding audits

Required qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Knowledge of ICD-CM and CPT coding systems, as well as third-party payer requirements
• Medical coding certification preferred, along with training in medical terminology
• Three years of medical abstraction and outpatient coding experience preferred
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively
