Certified Outpatient Coding Supervisor

Job Summary

To support a remote team, the full-time Certified Outpatient Coding Supervisor will assist coders and documentation staff with complex patient care cases, review medical records for coding errors, and serve as a technical resource for accurate coding standards and guidelines.

Key responsibilities:

• Assist coders and documentation management staff by analyzing documentation and discussing correct code assignment
• Review medical records flagged for coding errors and identify opportunities for coder education
• Act as a technical expert for staff and external customers regarding coding and documentation standards

Required qualifications:

• University Degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience or equivalent experience in lieu of formal education
• Current certification as RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CPC
• Strong outpatient coding background, including experience with outpatient/inpatient charts and coder auditing
• At least two years of people leadership experience
• Must maintain certification throughout employment
