Certified Senior Outpatient Coder

Job Summary

Working remotely on a full-time basis, the Certified Senior Outpatient Coder will review clinical documentation and assign ICD-10-CM diagnosis and CPT/HCPCS procedure codes to ensure accurate reimbursement for complex outpatient accounts.

Key responsibilities:

• Evaluates health record documentation to ensure accurate reimbursement through proper coding of outpatient encounters
• Identifies opportunities for documentation clarification and initiates coding queries to support accurate coding and charges
• Maintains coding quality and productivity expectations while assisting in training of outpatient coders

Required qualifications:

• Two (2) years of hospital outpatient coding experience
• Successful completion of a coding program with coursework in ICD-10-CM, CPT/HCPCS, and medical terminology
• Current certification with AHIMA or AAPC as a CPC, CCS, RHIA, or RHIT
• Passing score on the senior outpatient coding skills assessment
