Certified Senior Outpatient Coder

Job Summary

To ensure proper reimbursement for complex outpatient accounts, the full-time remote Certified Senior Outpatient Coder will review clinical documentation, assign ICD-10-CM diagnosis and CPT/HCPCS procedure codes, and collaborate with clinicians to maintain accurate coding and documentation.

Key responsibilities:

• Evaluates health record documentation to ensure accurate reimbursement through proper coding of outpatient encounters
• Identifies opportunities for documentation clarification and initiates coding queries to support coding accuracy
• Maintains coding quality and productivity expectations while assisting in training of outpatient coders

Required qualifications:

• Two (2) years of hospital outpatient coding experience
• Successful completion of a coding program with coursework in ICD-10-CM, CPT/HCPCS, medical terminology, and anatomy
• Current certification with AHIMA or AAPC as RHIA, RHIT, CPC, CCS, or CCS-P
• Passing score on the senior outpatient coding skills assessment
