Certified Surgical Coding Specialist

Job Summary

To ensure proper coding compliance and documentation accuracy, the full-time Certified Surgical Coding Specialist will assign diagnosis and procedure codes based on medical documentation while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Assign appropriate ICD-10 and CPT/HCPCS codes to patient encounters based on medical documentation
• Ensure compliance with coding guidelines from the AMA, CMS, and other regulatory bodies
• Participate in coding audits and maintain accurate records of coding activities

Required qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required; Associate's Degree in Medical Billing and Coding preferred
• Certified Professional Coder credential from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) preferred
• 3-5 years of medical coding experience required
• In-depth knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems
• Strong understanding of coding guidelines and regulations
