Certified Urgent Care Coder

Job Summary

To support urgent care partner organizations, the Certified Urgent Care Coder will perform professional-fee coding on a PRN basis, translating visit documentation into compliant claims data while working fully remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Reviews urgent care encounter documentation and assigns accurate CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10-CM, and applicable modifier codes
• Applies NCCI edits, CMS and AMA guidelines to ensure compliant coding while maintaining confidentiality and security of PHI
• Participates in quality audits and feedback sessions, identifying trends in denials and documentation gaps to escalate to project leadership

Required qualifications

• Active professional coding credential in good standing, such as CPC, CCS, or CCS-P
• Minimum of two years of recent, hands-on urgent care, emergency department, or ambulatory professional-fee coding experience
• Working knowledge of CPT, HCPCS Level II, ICD-10-CM, E/M guidelines, modifiers, and NCCI edits
• Ability to accept short-notice assignments and meet agreed turnaround times
• Reliable high-speed internet and a secure workspace that meets HIPAA requirements
