Charge Capture Specialist

Job Summary

To support efficient billing practices, the part-time Charge Capture Specialist will facilitate proper charge capture through electronic systems and manual processes, ensuring compliance with billing policies and clinical documentation while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Identify chargeable services and calculate Evaluation and Management (E&M) levels for emergency department and outpatient services
• Enter charges and notify healthcare staff of discrepancies in documentation affecting billing accuracy
• Collaborate with departments on charge capture issues and assist with educational opportunities related to billing practices

Required qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum of two years of experience in a hospital, medical, or billing environment
• Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and CPT/HCPCS guidelines
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
• Ability to read and interpret medical records effectively
