Job Summary

Seeking experienced freelance translators for a part-time independent contractor role, the Children's Book Translator will translate and review 36 early childhood board books for infants and toddlers, ensuring language is developmentally appropriate and culturally relevant while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Translate all 36 English board book manuscripts into the assigned target language, adapting content for readability and natural flow
• Conduct thorough self-reviews of translations for grammar, consistency, and cultural appropriateness, ensuring accuracy against source materials
• Complete two rounds of post-composition proofreading to verify translation accuracy and correct any errors before final approval

Required qualifications

• Native-level proficiency in the assigned target language with strong English comprehension
• Proven experience in translation or localization, preferably in children's literature or early childhood education
• Strong understanding of age-appropriate vocabulary and read-aloud conventions for children ages 0-3
• Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat annotation tools and Google Docs
• Reliable communication skills and ability to meet project milestones and deadlines
