Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialist

Job Summary

Working remotely in a full-time capacity, the Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialist will review and analyze health records to ensure accurate documentation of diagnoses and procedures, collaborating with healthcare professionals to support compliant reimbursement and quality outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive reviews of medical records to identify and clarify documentation discrepancies
• Prepare compliant written queries for physicians based on current guidelines to validate diagnoses
• Collaborate with the coding team to ensure accurate MS-DRG assignment and participate in the DRG reconciliation process

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience
• Current/active license as RN, MD, MD Equivalent, RHIA, RHIT, or CCS
• Minimum of 2 years of acute care inpatient hospital coding or CDI experience
• Familiarity with encoder and DRG assignment
• Current knowledge of official coding guidelines and coding clinics
