Job Summary
To support U.S. Department of Defense projects, the full-time Cognitive Systems Engineer will analyze and optimize human-system interactions, conduct cognitive task analysis, and lead multidisciplinary projects, working in a hybrid remote environment based in Dayton, OH.
Key responsibilities
- Apply Cognitive Systems Engineering methodologies to enhance workflow integration and usability for unmanned vehicle and command-and-control platforms
- Execute Cognitive Task Analysis and Knowledge Elicitation sessions to identify operational friction points and improve decision-making processes
- Lead technical execution and research integrity on projects, delivering comprehensive reports and actionable recommendations to stakeholders
Required qualifications
- Must currently have an active U.S. Security Clearance
- 3-6 years of experience in Cognitive Systems Engineering, Human Factors Engineering, or a related technical role
- Strong foundational background in Cognitive Systems Engineering with proven skills in mapping mental models and analyzing cognitive workload
- Exceptional communication skills with experience managing client expectations and driving projects independently
- Familiarity with Department of Defense environments, preferably with experience supporting the Air Force Research Laboratory
