Connecticut Licensed Outpatient Coding Educator

Job Summary

To enhance the skills of outpatient coders, the full-time Connecticut Licensed Outpatient Coding Educator will develop and implement an educational program, conduct audits, and provide training while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Develops and coordinates a comprehensive outpatient coding education program and conducts quality assurance reviews and compliance audits
• Tracks and reports coding education results, providing individualized training and remediation plans for coders with suboptimal quality scores
• Collaborates with internal and external partners to assess coding knowledge and coordinates educational sessions based on identified needs

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or a related field preferred
• Five or more years of progressively complex coding and/or auditing experience required
• Certified coder through AAPC with a COC designation and an instructor designation within six months
• Expert knowledge of coding guidelines, CPT, and Evaluation & Management classification systems
• Experience with electronic health records and health care applications; Epic experience preferred
