Connecticut Licensed Reinsurance Director

Job Summary

Overseeing the daily operations of the underwriting team, the full-time Connecticut Licensed Reinsurance Director will manage reinsurance agreements, analyze risk factors, and ensure profitability targets are met while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the reinsurance underwriting process for new and renewal accounts, ensuring profitability and portfolio strategy
• Make complex underwriting decisions and monitor the reinsurance portfolio to maintain a diversified risk profile
• Lead strategic negotiations with major ceding companies and oversee crisis management efforts related to significant reinsurance events

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred in Statistics, Economics, Risk Management, or related fields
• 12-15+ years of experience in Reinsurance Underwriting with at least 5 years in a management role
• State P&C and/or surplus line licenses are required
• Associate in Reinsurance (ARE) or Associate in Risk Management (ARM) is a plus
• Knowledge of Ceded Reinsurance and Reinsurance Treaty Placement
