Job Summary

Seeking a part-time contractor, the Content Writer - African American Expert will collaborate with the Contextual Content team to produce high-quality, genealogically accurate content focused on African American history, including record descriptions and blog posts, while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Editor and Program Manager to develop and complete writing assignments
• Conduct in-depth historical research to ensure accuracy and depth in content
• Write diverse content formats, adhering to style guidelines and departmental goals

Required qualifications

• Experience with African American genealogy research and writing
• Degree in history, English, journalism, or related field, or equivalent professional writing experience
• Background in family history and historical event writing
• Strong internet and research skills
• Demonstrated ability to adhere to style guides and deadlines
