CPA Licensed Controller

Job Summary

Seeking a full-time, remote CPA Licensed Controller who will manage the end-to-end accounting function, including monthly close, financial reporting, revenue accounting, and compliance, while ensuring accurate and timely financial data for a profitable education-focused company.

Key responsibilities

• Own the monthly close process and produce consolidated financial statements, including balance sheet reconciliations and budget commentary
• Oversee revenue accounting under ASC 606, managing deferred revenue schedules and reconciliations with billing and payment processors
• Design and implement internal controls and manage relationships with external CPA and audit firms to ensure compliance and audit readiness

Required qualifications

• 6+ years in accounting with at least 2 years managing a monthly close process from start to finish
• Hands-on experience with ASC 606 in a subscription or deferred-revenue business
• Experience with multi-state payroll and sales/use tax regulations
• Proven ability to build close processes, checklists, and controls from the ground up
