CPC Certified Coder II

Job Summary

Working remotely on a full-time basis, the CPC Certified Coder II will review medical records for UPMC Cancer Centers, ensuring accurate coding and maximizing reimbursement by applying coding guidelines and resolving denials.

Key responsibilities:

• Utilize coding guidelines to assign appropriate ICD and CPT codes, ensuring accuracy and completeness
• Monitor and resolve coding edits and denials in a timely manner to optimize reimbursement
• Formulate physician queries for incomplete documentation and actively participate in monthly coding meetings for operational improvements

Required qualifications:

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Minimum of 2 years of coding experience with schooling, or 3 years of experience with CPC certification
• Graduate of an approved certified coding program preferred
• Knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology, Pharmacology, Pathophysiology, Medical Terminology, and coding guidelines
• Eligible for CPC or CPC specialty certification
