Data Engineer
Job Summary
Supporting the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in modernizing claims processing, the full-time remote Data Engineer will design and optimize scalable data pipelines and solutions, integrating complex datasets to enhance operational analytics and workflow automation.
Key responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Python, SQL, and PySpark for VA claims processing
- Integrate structured and unstructured data from various VA systems and external sources, developing reusable integrations
- Engineer data solutions to streamline claims intake and processing, improving access to accurate claims information
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering or software engineering with a focus on production data systems
- Proficiency in Python and SQL, including complex queries and data transformations
- Experience with cloud data services in AWS, Azure, or similar environments
- Strong understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and database optimization techniques
