Data Engineer/Architect

Job Summary

To support the design of a new data foundation for generative AI applications, the full-time remote Data Engineer/Architect will manage the implementation of big data systems, ETL pipelines, and data access controls while documenting architectural definitions for software engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement big data systems, ETL pipelines, and data lakes/lakehouses/meshes
• Develop schemas and ontologies to support data foundation requirements
• Create documentation for data definitions and designs to facilitate understanding among management and software engineers

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 8+ years or Master's degree with 6+ years in a Science, Engineering, or Technology field, or equivalent experience
• US citizenship with the ability to obtain a Top Secret security clearance
• 5+ years of experience in designing and developing systems for analyzing large structured and unstructured data sets
• 5+ years of experience with AI application principles, including retrieval-augmented generation (RAG)
• Hands-on experience with Python or JavaScript development for data integration
