Data Engineer - Healthcare IT
Job Summary
To support the CMS Reporting and Quality division, the full-time salaried Data Engineer - Healthcare IT will design, build, and operate data integration and processing pipelines using Databricks and AWS, focusing on Medicare claims data and quality measure outputs.
Key responsibilities
- Design and maintain scalable data pipelines in Databricks for integrating and transforming healthcare data
- Develop and optimize Databricks jobs and workflows for large-scale claims processing
- Implement automated data validation frameworks and ensure compliance with data security requirements for sensitive information
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Statistics, Data Science, or a similar field
- Minimum of 7+ years of experience in data engineering or ETL/ELT development
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with Databricks using Spark (Scala and/or PySpark) and SQL
- Experience with AWS data services such as S3, Glue, Lambda, and Redshift
- Familiarity with large-scale healthcare data and HIPAA compliance for PII and PHI protection
