Data Platform Engineer
Job Summary
To lead the modernization of a healthcare data platform, the full-time Data Platform Engineer will work remotely to implement a scalable, cloud-native AWS architecture, optimize query performance, and collaborate with stakeholders to meet reporting needs.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the transition from a Microsoft SQL XML object store to an AWS data architecture, ensuring seamless reporting and querying capabilities
- Design and build the reporting layer for business users to run SQL queries against healthcare data while optimizing data organization and performance
- Implement CI/CD pipelines and apply Infrastructure as Code practices to maintain and enhance data infrastructure
Required qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in software or data engineering with a strong focus on AWS
- Proven experience in architecting and executing cloud data platform migrations in enterprise or healthcare settings
- Strong SQL skills with experience in designing relational query layers over semi-structured or non-relational data
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline; equivalent practical experience considered
- Familiarity with AWS data services such as S3, Athena, Aurora, and Redshift, along with CI/CD practices and AWS-native tooling
