Data Science Lead
Job Summary
As the first data science leader, the full-time Head of Data Science will build and own the core modeling foundation for an AI-powered claims and litigation intelligence platform, focusing on risk modeling, claims ontology, and settlement intelligence while working remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Build and own the core modeling layer, including risk-flagging, escalation modeling, and fraud analysis
- Design the claims ontology and data model to create a single source of truth from inconsistent claims data
- Translate complex statistical concepts for technical and non-technical audiences and partner with Engineering and Product to embed models into live claims workflows
Required qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in data science, statistical modeling, or quantitative analytics, preferably in insurtech or insurance
- An advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Statistics, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field
- Expert-level proficiency in Python and fluency in R
- Proven experience in taking models from research to production in a product environment
- Experience with claims severity, reserving, litigation propensity, or fraud modeling is a strong plus
