Data Scientist

Job Summary

To support a growing mission of making Africa the first cashless continent, the remote Data Scientist will collaborate with product managers and business leaders to develop credit scoring models, enhance fraud detection, and optimize operational processes using data-driven insights.

Key responsibilities

• Generate insights using customer, merchant, and internal data through statistical modeling, data visualization, and machine learning
• Design and implement optimizations for internal operations, user promotions, and agent networks to enhance scalability and reduce costs
• Take ownership of the analytics process from project scoping and design to communicating findings to stakeholders

Required qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline; a Master's or PhD is a plus
• 5+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or technical analytics roles
• Deep expertise with Python, SQL, and data visualization tools
• Experience in machine learning, causal inference, statistical modeling, or A/B testing, particularly in operational settings
• Fluency in English; French is a plus
