Data Scientist with Analytics Expertise
Job Summary
To support the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, a mid-to-senior level Data Scientist with Analytics Expertise will work full-time, either onsite in Tysons, VA, or remotely, focusing on data engineering, visualization, and applied program evaluation using SQL, Python, and Microsoft Power Platform.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of analytics products, combining SQL-backed data and reproducible analytical workflows
- Partner with program leadership to translate complex program questions into actionable technical requirements and analytical objectives
- Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and Power Apps experiences to enhance program performance and operational insights
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in statistics, data science, computer science, or a related field; advanced training is highly valued
- 6+ years of experience in data analytics, program evaluation, or related quantitative disciplines
- Strong SQL skills and experience with complex relational data models and cohort construction
- Proficiency in Python or R for data manipulation, visualization, and statistical modeling
- Demonstrated ability to select and defend appropriate analytical methods and assess uncertainty in findings
