Data Security Engineer

Job Summary

Implementing and improving security controls for institutional data, the full-time Data Security Engineer will work remotely to manage data protection measures across various platforms, including encryption, access controls, and compliance validation.

Key responsibilities

• Implements and maintains data protection controls, including classification, labeling, and encryption for institutional data
• Configures least-privilege access models and conducts entitlement reviews to ensure proper access management
• Automates control deployment and integrates data security telemetry with Security Operations for incident response

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, information security, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
• 7+ years of experience in information security, cloud engineering, database engineering, or a related field, with 2+ years focused on data protection
• Proficiency with SQL and hands-on implementation of data security controls in enterprise environments
• Specialized knowledge of data protection lifecycle, cloud data security, and relevant regulatory requirements
• Experience with scripting and automation using platform APIs or infrastructure-as-code tools
