Job Summary
Owning the full scope of database administration, the full-time remote Database Administrator will manage PostgreSQL and HP Vertica databases on self-managed EC2 instances, ensuring their reliable, secure, and compliant operation while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Key responsibilities
- Administer PostgreSQL and HP Vertica databases, including installation, configuration, patching, and upgrades
- Oversee backup, restore, and disaster recovery processes, ensuring high availability and performance tuning
- Collaborate with Software Engineers and DevOps Engineers to support application data needs and troubleshoot production issues
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator in enterprise environments
- Hands-on experience administering PostgreSQL and HP Vertica on self-managed infrastructure
- Experience running production databases directly on EC2, including OS-level patching and monitoring
- Solid understanding of backup/DR strategy and high-availability configurations
