Database Engineer
Job Summary
Seeking an experienced Database Engineer for a full-time hybrid position who will design, model, secure, and maintain both NoSQL (primarily MongoDB) and relational database systems, serving as the core data authority on an Agile Scrum team.
Key responsibilities:
- Design and document logical and physical data models, guiding software development teams on database schema design and indexing strategies
- Administer and maintain MongoDB environments, ensuring high availability and performance through effective configuration and management
- Implement database security controls and develop robust backup and disaster recovery strategies for distributed database systems
Required qualifications:
- US Citizenship with the ability to complete a federal background investigation
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field
- 5-7 years of database administration/engineering experience, with at least 3 years focused on MongoDB
- Strong knowledge of MongoDB architecture and experience with SQL development and performance optimization
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation tasks
