Database Engineer
Job Summary
Taking complete ownership of daily database operations, the remote Lead Database Administrator will manage and maintain the database infrastructure, oversee project planning and execution, and provide technical leadership while ensuring optimal performance and security of MySQL databases.
Key responsibilities
- Manage daily database operations, including backup management, performance tuning, and resolving slow-running queries
- Design, secure, and maintain the underlying Linux servers for large distributed databases
- Plan and execute large technical projects, effectively communicating technical considerations and business impacts to stakeholders
Required qualifications
- Advanced administration of MySQL in production environments, with strong Linux system administration skills
- Experience as the sole or lead owner for large production database infrastructure within a SaaS environment
- Advanced experience configuring and troubleshooting MySQL replication setups
- Proven track record of executing minimal-downtime upgrades and complex migrations
- Experience securing database infrastructure through various security measures, including SSL/TLS encryption
