Job Summary
To enhance the PostgreSQL database layer of Skye, the full-time remote Database Engineer - PostgreSQL/AWS Aurora will manage and optimize a large relational schema, analyze production database issues, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure operational efficiency.
Key responsibilities:
- Serve as a subject-matter expert for PostgreSQL and AWS Aurora within the operational database of Skye
- Analyze and resolve production database issues, improving query performance and indexing for high-volume data
- Automate routine database maintenance tasks and support workflows for backups, restores, and staging
Required qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience with production relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL and AWS Aurora
- Strong SQL skills, including proficiency in joins, query plans, and indexing
- Experience with high-volume databases and the ability to diagnose performance issues
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on schema migrations and operational changes
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field preferred; Master's degree is a plus
