Db2 Database Engineer
Job Summary
Seeking a strong Db2 Database Engineer on a contract basis, the candidate will develop and maintain various database applications on the IBM iSeries platform, utilizing dynamic SQL and converting RPG code to SQL stored procedures while working flexibly from home in Houston, TX.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain database applications on the IBM iSeries platform
- Convert RPG code to SQL stored procedures and perform performance tuning
- Implement logging and exception handling for database applications
Required qualifications
- Expertise in SQL stored procedures and development experience on the Db2 IBM iSeries platform
- Ability to read RPGIV, RPGLE, and RPGFree programs with embedded SQL
- Experience in conversion/modernization from RPG to SQL stored procedures in Db2
- Familiarity with IBM tools such as Aldon, RDI, and ACS
- Exposure to Python, microservices, and Git source control
