DCS Automation Engineer

Job Summary

To support the clean energy transition, the full-time remote DCS Automation Engineer will design and manage unit and plant-level automation architectures for power generation assets, ensuring seamless integration of control systems and driving operational excellence across multiple projects.

Key responsibilities

• Architect unit and plant-level DCS/PLC control systems and develop scalable standards for control narratives and operational sequences
• Lead the integration of unit-level controllers into plant-wide DCS and supervisory SCADA networks while specifying industrial communication protocols
• Oversee technical execution and vendor performance, reviewing control system deliverables and validating automation capabilities during testing and commissioning

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation & Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline
• 10+ years of hands-on experience in control systems engineering and plant automation design within power generation or heavy utility-scale environments
• Demonstrated expertise in DCS architectures and PLCs from major OEMs, as well as integration with supervisory SCADA platforms using various communication protocols
• Proven experience in defining control engineering artifacts for large capital projects, including P&IDs and control narratives
• Strong collaborative communication skills to lead technical discussions across multidisciplinary teams and external partners
