Developer Experience Lead

Job Summary

Working remotely with occasional on-site collaboration in Washington, DC, the contract Developer Experience Lead will bridge the gap between enterprise platform architecture and software development teams, focusing on creating seamless software delivery through the design of self-service tools and robust onboarding programs.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the lead technical advisor to application teams, facilitating the adoption of enterprise source control, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing
• Analyze software development lifecycles to eliminate delivery bottlenecks while ensuring compliance with cybersecurity and agency standards
• Guide engineering teams on the adoption of AI-assisted development tools and own developer documentation and onboarding materials

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field with 12+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 10+ years of relevant experience
• 5+ years of software engineering, DevOps, or platform engineering experience with hands-on experience in enterprise source control and CI/CD platforms
• 3+ years of UX engineering or design experience focused on developer portals or documentation sites
• Proven background in leading the adoption of shared tools or frameworks across multiple development teams
• Experience in developing technical documentation and conducting engineering training or tech briefings
