Director of Data Operations

Job Summary

Leading the operational health and performance of enterprise data platforms, the full-time salaried Director of Data Operations will oversee day-to-day data operations, drive team productivity, and execute strategies for continuous improvement while collaborating with business stakeholders to communicate technical complexities in accessible terms.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of escalation for high-priority operational incidents and lead post-incident reviews to transition from reactive to proactive operations
• Define and monitor operational Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) focused on system stability and incident trends, while driving continuous process improvements
• Manage relationships with strategic vendors and mentor a high-performing data operations team to enhance productivity and reduce technical debt

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
• 10+ years of relevant experience in data operations or IT platform management, with at least 3+ years in a leadership role
• Strong hands-on knowledge of modern cloud data architectures, preferably Azure, and Databricks
• Proven track record in incident management frameworks and reducing incident rates
• Exceptional ability to communicate complex technical issues in clear, business-friendly terms to senior leaders
