Director of Engineering
Job Summary
Owning the Shopify platform end to end, the full-time remote Director of Engineering will manage technical strategy, lead engineering and QA efforts, and collaborate with various business teams to ensure seamless integration and operational efficiency across the commerce ecosystem.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee the Shopify platform, including product architecture, store configuration, and integrations with various business systems
- Lead engineering and QA teams, review code, troubleshoot issues, and set technical standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate commercial needs into scalable technical solutions that drive business performance
Required qualifications
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 4+ years of hands-on experience in Shopify and Shopify Plus
- Experience in D2C e-commerce within a consumer packaged goods organization, preferably in a startup or growth-stage environment
- Strong expertise in Liquid and Shopify theme development, with the ability to troubleshoot and guide code development
- Proven engineering leadership experience, managing roadmaps and collaborating with executive stakeholders
- Familiarity with subscription-based commerce and experience with modern AI-assisted development tools is a plus
