Director of Engineering

Job Summary

Seeking a hands-on Director of Engineering, the full-time remote position will lead the engineering function, scale a community intelligence platform into an enterprise-grade product, and manage a small engineering team while actively contributing code.

Key responsibilities

• Own the architecture and full-stack systems, maintaining and modernizing core infrastructure while ensuring data confidence and traceability
• Set delivery standards for quality, security, and compliance, and modernize engineering processes through streamlined practices
• Manage and mentor the engineering team, fostering a culture of rapid prototyping and disciplined delivery while collaborating with cross-functional teams

Required qualifications

• 8+ years of engineering leadership experience, with a recent focus on AI-native development
• 5+ years of experience in building production systems, particularly in data engineering and cloud infrastructure
• Strong technical depth in full-stack development, including Ruby on Rails and cloud technologies like GCP
• Experience with healthcare or regulated data compliance (HIPAA, SOC 2) is a strong plus
• Proficiency in using AI coding agents and structuring repositories for effective code generation
