Director of Engineering

Job Summary

Leading engineering teams in the development of software solutions for U.S. defense operators, the full-time Director of Engineering will manage technical leadership, drive AI adoption, and ensure high-quality delivery in a remote work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and grow engineers by hiring, onboarding, coaching, and developing software engineers across various experience levels
• Be the technical leader by participating in architecture reviews and guiding technology choices for the Defense solutions portfolio
• Own delivery outcomes by ensuring teams deliver high-quality software while balancing technical quality with business and mission value

Required qualifications

• Significant experience in software engineering at a Principal Engineer or Architect level with expertise in system design and technology strategy
• Proven experience managing and developing engineering teams, including hiring and performance management
• Strong hands-on background in cloud-native architectures, microservices, and proficiency in modern programming languages (e.g., Go, Python, Java)
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools and a track record of driving AI adoption within engineering teams
• Experience leading teams that own the full software development lifecycle, including testing, deployment, and production operations
