Director of External Engagement

Job Summary

Leading public communications and strategic outreach, the full-time Director of External Engagement will develop and execute an integrated engagement strategy for the Bridging Divides Initiative, ensuring resources effectively reach communities while managing external representation and team leadership in a fully remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy to enhance BDI's mission and outreach efforts
• Supervise external engagement staff, providing coaching and managing project timelines to align with organizational goals
• Serve as the official spokesperson for BDI, conducting media interviews and representing the initiative in national coordination spaces

Required qualifications

• Deep commitment to civil society efforts addressing political violence across diverse sectors
• Proven experience in designing and executing impactful communication strategies
• Exceptional ability to synthesize complex research into accessible narratives for various audiences
• Established relationships with media outlets and understanding of current communication technology trends
• 10+ years of experience in communications, media relations, or public policy operations, along with a relevant bachelor's degree
