Director of Machine Learning

Job Summary

To lead the AI/ML organization behind an immigration case management platform, the full-time remote Director of Machine Learning will build and manage a team of ML engineers, set technical direction for AI/ML capabilities, and ensure the quality and efficiency of production models.

Key responsibilities

• Build and scale the ML engineering organization, establishing governance and technical leadership
• Own the technical strategy for document AI and lead evaluations for in-house versus vendor ML capabilities
• Accountable for measurable business outcomes, including cost savings and accuracy improvements in document processing

Required qualifications

• 8+ years in applied ML/AI with experience leading an ML/AI engineering team
• Proven credentials in the ML/AI field, such as patents or peer-reviewed publications
• Experience scaling ML/AI organizations and shipping production systems
• Hands-on expertise in LLM, document extraction, and traditional ML techniques
• M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field preferred
