Director of Medicinal Chemistry

Job Summary

Leading a multi-disciplinary team in a remote capacity, the full-time salaried Director of Medicinal Chemistry will guide the medicinal chemistry efforts for CNS GPCR drug discovery, overseeing internal and outsourced chemistry resources to progress small-molecule candidates from hit-to-lead through IND-ready status.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage internal and CRO-based synthetic chemistry teams, prioritizing tasks and resolving challenges to achieve IND-ready candidates
• Serve as the chemistry leader within the project team, fostering strong relationships and effective communication with colleagues, partners, and consultants
• Design new molecules to meet target product profiles, analyze SAR data, and refine designs using computational predictive tools

Required qualifications

• BS/MS in Chemistry; PhD strongly preferred
• 10+ years of experience in medicinal chemistry, particularly in designing small molecules as a team leader
• Expertise in synthetic chemistry, pharmacology, ADME, and intellectual property protection
• Experience working on CNS targets and managing outsourced chemistry teams
• Proven ability to lead remote teams and adaptively solve problems in a fast-paced environment
