Director of Reinsurance Accounting

Job Summary

Leading a team in reinsurance financial operations, the full-time remote Director of Reinsurance Accounting will manage accounting for complex reinsurance structures, ensuring compliance with statutory and internal reporting requirements while driving process improvements and collaboration across departments.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the reinsurance accounting team in treaty administration, premium/claims accounting, and settlements
• Oversee financial reporting for all reinsurance arrangements and ensure accurate processing of ceded premiums and loss recoveries
• Manage month-end and quarter-end close processes related to reinsurance and lead internal and external audits

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
• 8+ years of experience in reinsurance accounting or insurance finance, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role
• In-depth knowledge of GAAP and statutory accounting principles related to reinsurance
• Experience with property & casualty reinsurance programs and regulatory filings such as Schedule F
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop a team
