Job Summary
Leading the Advanced Development Team, the full-time salaried Director of Research and Development will oversee cross-functional engineering efforts, directing the research, design, development, testing, and release of innovative products and technologies in Rochester, NY.
Key responsibilities
- Provide leadership and technical vision for the Advanced Development team, ensuring effective resource allocation and project management
- Develop and implement comprehensive product development plans while managing joint development with third-party vendors
- Facilitate team growth through hiring, training, performance reviews, and mentoring to enhance team processes and remove technical obstacles
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field preferred
- 10+ years of experience in embedded engineering, with hands-on product development experience
- 3+ years of leadership experience preferred
- Expertise in high-speed opto-electric technologies and embedded product design techniques
- Comprehensive understanding of engineering and product development concepts
