Director of Risk Management

Job Summary

To build and govern Engine's risk framework, the full-time remote Director of Risk Management will establish risk tolerance guidelines, oversee risk governance processes, and partner with cross-functional teams to integrate risk policies into product development while ensuring alignment with business growth.

Key responsibilities:

• Build and own Engine's risk tolerance framework, defining key metrics and thresholds for risk management
• Establish second-line governance processes for risk sign-offs on critical business decisions
• Partner with Product and Engineering to embed risk standards into product logic and controls

Required qualifications:

• 8-10+ years of experience in risk management, specifically in credit and fraud, with 3+ years in a leadership role
• Proven ability to balance risk management with business growth through specific examples
• Experience in direct partnership with Product and Engineering to translate risk policy into actionable product decisions
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements including BSA/AML and card issuing compliance
• Experience in fintech, card issuing, or lending environments; certifications like FRM, CPA, or CFE are a plus
