Director of Scientific Data

Job Summary

Leading the scientific data team, the full-time remote Director of Scientific Data will manage the integrity and evolution of scientific data, guiding data decisions and collaborating with engineering and science teams to operationalize data strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary subject-matter expert for cheminformatics and scientific data, guiding data decisions across chemistry and biology
• Own the scientific strategy for data acquisition, representation, integration, normalization, and maintenance, partnering with Engineering and Science teams
• Establish standards for scientific data quality, provenance, and validation, ensuring effective processes for identifying and resolving data-quality issues

Required Qualifications

• PhD in cheminformatics, bioinformatics, computational biology, structural biology, or a related quantitative life-science field
• 10+ years of experience with scientific data in drug discovery or life science data/informatics, including 3+ years in a leadership role
• Working knowledge of cheminformatics and fluency in bioinformatics, including biological databases and gene/protein identifier mapping
• Strong data modeling skills with proficiency in Python and SQL, along with experience in data pipelines and modern data tooling
• Understanding of the drug discovery process and ability to communicate effectively with medicinal chemists and biologists
