Director of Security Engineering

Job Summary

Leading the Security Engineering organization, the remote Director of Security Engineering will build and scale high-performing teams, manage major security programs, and represent security to executive leadership and external stakeholders while acting with full authority in the CISO's absence.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as deputy to the CISO, representing the security organization to executives, customers, and regulators
• Lead and develop managers and senior engineers across Security Engineering and Security Operations
• Own the security engineering roadmap, including cloud security architecture and cross-functional security programs

Required qualifications

• 10+ years in security or software engineering, with at least 4 years managing security teams
• Proven experience in building and scaling high-performing security teams
• Deep technical expertise in cloud-native environments, including AWS and Kubernetes
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and earn trust from engineering leaders
• Strong written communication skills and executive presence for presentations to leadership and auditors
