Job Summary
To lead a dynamic engineering team, the full-time Director of Software Engineering will manage cross-cutting initiatives such as platform modernization and security, while overseeing Staff Engineers and collaborating with central security organizations, all in a remote work environment.
Key responsibilities
- Identify and prioritize cross-squad problems, shaping work with Staff Engineers to address technical risks
- Grow and develop the Staff Engineer team, setting direction and coaching them as technical leaders
- Lead security practices at Ellevation, ensuring compliance and effective communication with central security organizations
Required qualifications
- 10+ years in software engineering with experience leading engineering teams
- Proven experience in hiring and developing senior and staff-level engineers
- Strong technical foundation in modern web applications, cloud infrastructure, and CI/CD
- Background in security, including application security, compliance, and incident response
- Experience communicating technical and security risks to executive audiences
