Director of Software Engineering

Job Summary

Providing strategic and operational leadership, the full-time remote Director of Software Engineering will manage software engineering teams, translate business priorities into engineering strategies, and ensure the delivery of reliable technology solutions while fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop software engineering managers, establishing clear expectations and building a sustainable talent pipeline
• Own strategic relationships with business units to shape technology roadmaps and maintain accountability for outcomes
• Translate enterprise priorities into cohesive engineering strategies and oversee portfolio-level software delivery, ensuring quality and risk management

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent work experience
• 10 years of professional software development experience in progressively elevated roles
• 5 years of management experience in a technical field
• Proven track record of delivering complex software projects with distributed or remote teams
• Strong knowledge of solution architecture, secure coding practices, and cloud-hosted application development using platforms like Microsoft Azure, AWS, or GCP
